I Went for a Walk Without You

I went for a walk without you

Not much sun, but the wind still blew

I went for a walk without you

My feet felt heavy

And yet,

I couldn’t slow down

I went for a walk without you

Not sure if the neighbors stared

And wondered where you were

It doesn’t matter

Mind clouded, vision blurred

I went for a walk without you

And when I rounded the corner to get home

I thought I saw you outside, alone

But it wasn’t

Never could be

Still, we stared at each other in silence

In that moment

You knew

And I knew

It’s just not the same

Going for a walk without you
